And to think that there are some that straight pipe the trucks or vans and by doing so will increase the sound of the diesel....

When I read this:

"When a turbo wraps up at high rpm -- burning reconstituted exhaust -- the high pressure and high velocity of carbon monoxide through the turbo makes a whistle or screaming sound similar to that heard from a jet engine"

I question the intelligence behind that article. The turbo does not "burn reconstituted exhaust"... it does not "burn" anything. Also, "high velocity of carbon monoxide"??? It's just exhaust... contains all SORTS of gases and vapors, and that's just one side. The intake side has AIR in it.

I've never seen anything like what is described in that article on my truck, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I want to know where the "manifold cover on the turbo" is. My truck seems to be missing that piece.

i just stumbled onto the article and simply posed the question if anyone had taken out the "suposed" silencer ring in the intake hose? i agree using the term "burn" is misplaced, even misunderstood by the author. the point was,if there is some sort of ring in the hose that attaches to the turbo inlet which reduces the "whistle" when the turbo spools up..
i,ll see when i pull my turbo 2mro if there is such a thing in the hose

After the 4" Aero Turbin was installed on my van it from the inside reminds me of the days I would fly in a Twin Otter.... the take off of the twin engines of their turbin engines sounds much like my van..
Even more so when on the on ramps getting up to the 60-65mph...and 2400 rpms....
