Replacement of Oil/Fuel Filter Housing Assembly

I am trying to add a fuel pressure sensor onto the fuel bowl but... plug that I need to take out has the alen wrench port rounded out. Soooo, I was thinking about simply (and I use that word loosely) replacing the Oil/Fuel housing assembly. 2005 F350 6.0

Is there a write up on that? At first glance it looks pretty straight forward but having not looked into it, I'm sure I'm not seeing some hidden gotchas. I can get a housing for anywhere from $145-$180. Of course there is the CAP option where I know sinister diesel has a cap with a port on the top that might work... But I'd have to ensure I can put a 90 degree connector on there and then the Fuel Sensor that has a 22mm nut (for lack of a better word) that would have to clear the top of the cap...

But for this question, how hard is it to remove the housing?

It may be that I can just remove the housing to get a pair of pliers on the plug as opposed to replacing the entire assembly too.

Any advice is welcome!

Its not that hard to remove. Be aware that some of the fuel lines going to the housing have a copper washer under the banjo bolt, and against the housing. The ones against the housing love to fall off and land down in the recesses of the front cover, engine valley, etc. There is a o-ring gasket on the oil filter housing. I would replace that just to be safe given the age of these trucks.

My guess is that if you take the housings off you can get the plug out. The best way would be to weld a nut onto it. The heat will break it loose and the nut gives you something to get a 6 point socket or wrench on.

I would not use an aftermarket cap on the oil or fuel filter housings.
