Sooo, I have 50,000 kms on my truck now. My front shocks are going and I am looking for replacement. I am looking for input as to what to go with.

Please?

I'm very happy with the HD Series Bilstein's I put on my '05.

I know they are gas shocks but I don't know what type of gas. I originally wanted the 5150 series shocks from Bilstein but they only fit the leveled or lifted trucks, so I had to settle for the 4600 series (yellow/blue). I checked their site and see the 2011's are the same as my '05. Here's the link (it lists all available shocks for F-250 4x4 w/diesel): Bilstein, Innovation and High Quality Since 1873.

You can get the silver 5100's with a stock truck.

Part# 24-186025 rear shock, rear lifted height 0"

Part# 24-186018 front shock, lifted height 0 to 2"

Anyone have experience with the 5160s (with the reservoir system)? Curious what the ride is like.

I am off road quite a bit, mostly in pasture/field, and rest of the time mostly gravel roads. Been considering the 5160 vs. 5100. I don't have a lift (stock f350 seems pretty darn high already) and like the fact Bilstein states specifically the 5160 is for a stock (non-lifted) F350?

The 5160's can be used on stock hight truck do to having the remote reservoir. Having the remote reservoir allows the internal floating piston and the gas chamber to be relocated to the reservoir making more travel room so the shock can go shorter as well as using the same shock with a 3' lift. Unlike the 5100 the 5160's use a more advanced valving digressive vs linear. For the price it's hard to beat a 5160.

Thanks, now I want the 5160s! Actually there what I wanted from the start but "settled" for the 5100s since they were about half the price. Like them but can't claim a distinct huge difference between stock, but have only had a chance to use them around town. Still happy I made the upgrade though.

I put the rancho 9000 adjustable shocks on.. I really like them, better control over bumps, sway is tighter..very pleased..I also added the dual steering stabilzer shocks..helps with the 35's.. Jeff
