Error codes on the dash display?

My friend with a Dodge diesel   showed me a trick. He flipped the ignition key on and off three times. The odometer display then cycled thru several error codes, which all passed at that time.

He told me that many vehicles contained this feature, but the manuals never mention it. :wink2: Some VW has this display under the floor carpet.

Anyone know if this exists on the Ford diesel? I own a 2007 F350 PSD.

I don't know if this works with the 05-07 but it's worth a try. This is the only article I have seen about it. Odometer Trick

Thanks Guy for the info. But my 07 doesn't have an Odometer reset button.

On the other hand, I looked further into the Diesel supplemental book. The dash will display two messages: Water In Fuel, and Ck Air Filter. Guess that must suffice.

Thanks again.

Suffice it to say that on the super duty, the dash cluster can only diagnose itself, which I believe is the same on the dodge.

I don't understand. The two messages I quoted, Water In Fuel, and Ck Air Filter, don't apply to dashboard functions, do they?

Bruce,

The turn key three times trick is only available on the Dodge. You're right, it's not listed in the Owner's Manual, but the Turbo Diesel Register guys have a bunch of good info.

On my '05 2500HD CTD, my dash had an extra function that allowed me to see how many hours were on my engine; the 2nd Gen Dodges didn't have that feature.

I would think there is somthing that could be done to upgrade our message center display. my xlt has the same display as the lariats do, but mine does not display stuff like fuel milage and all of that. Atleast I think that is where the lariats display that stuff, in the dash message center. I would think there is some way to turn that stuff on, isn't it all in the truck's computer?

Yup, that info shows on the dash message center, bottom center of the dash, along with mileage, tripometer, miles to empty and engine hours. "Trailer disconnect" too for my tow package. Also Low fuel TBC fault, Door Ajar, Check Fuelcap, Check Gauges. English/French in case you're driving to Paris (Does it check which side of the road you're using? No, wait, that's England.)

Betcha right that the computer has the capability but is disabled. "Value pricing" I think they call it. :icon_mad:

If someone figures out how to turn it all on, let me know!
